In Germany, immersive technologies have so far been located primarily in the entertainment sector. The computer games industry has been a major driver of virtual reality for some time, but industry is also discovering the new technologies more and more. Intuitive and motivating processes are of special interest here. Medical technology in particular is experiencing major changes through the use of virtual reality. Overall, the application potential of immersive technologies extends across a wide range of industries in Germany in spite of the current focus on the entertainment sector. One of the most important media locations in Germany is the capital city of Berlin and the surrounding area, not least because of the Babelsberg film studio located there. For this reason, one of the strengths in the region is narrative and content production using immersive technologies. Games, entertainment and edutainment are currently recording the largest sales of virtual reality applications in Germany.
