In 2021, Saudi Arabia launched a creative program to develop ideas using the latest immersive technologies. In 2022, an exhibition of the best ideas followed on display at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) in Dhahran. Visitors there were able to test prototypes of the five winning projects, which were created using augmented, virtual and augmented reality, haptics and immersive audio. In addition to a cash prize, the program's winners also received access to Ithra's ideation and immersion labs. These labs include a haptic suit for physical VR experiences, a special VR treadmill, one of the highest resolution mixed reality headsets in the technology sector, and a highly advanced VR camera.
