While waste disposal is a vital process to keep our cities clean, garbage trucks make unnecessary trips emptying half-full trash cans. And instead of being compressed, the trash cans are full of air- leading to improper waste disposal.

A solar-powered waste compactor is a smart device that reads a waste bin's fill-level in real-time and triggers automatic compaction, effectively increasing the bin's capacity 5-8 times. They can also alert garbage collection companies when full.

Solar-powered waste compactors have many benefits including:

- Reduced frequency of waste collections thus reducing costs
- Historical waste collection data analytics
- Reduced greenhouse gas emissions

The solar-powered trash cans can primarily be used in high foot traffic areas such as town centers, shopping malls, amusement parks, beaches, transit stations, and sports stadiums.
