Reducing Gender Disparities through the Empowerment of Women and Girls in Djibouti

In order to address the greatest impediments regarding the support of women's rights and gender equality, among which are women's lack of awareness of their fundamental rights, poverty, and traditions and gender stereotypes in society, the European Union launched the project "Consolidating the Empowerment of Women and Girls", which is implemented by UNDP and UNFPA under the coordination of the Ministry of Women and Family.

This project aims to lessen gender inequality by implementing the national program of the Ministry of Women and Family for gender mainstreaming. It strives to strengthen the empowerment of Djiboutian women and girls, ensuring them sufficient resources, improved access to basic services, and better living conditions at all levels.

Vulnerable Djiboutian women and girls are the beneficiaries, especially from the five inland regions where levels of inequality and vulnerability are especially high.
