📘 New Publication | Global Economic Prospects – June 2026
The World Bank has released its latest Global Economic Prospects – June 2026 report, providing an overview of the current global economic outlook and the key challenges shaping growth across advanced and developing economies.
Key highlights from the report include:
- 🌍 Global growth is projected to slow to 2.5% in 2026, marking the weakest pace outside of a recession in nearly two decades.
- 📉 Growth forecasts have been downgraded for nearly two-thirds of economies due to geopolitical tensions, higher energy prices, and persistent uncertainty.
- 💼 Emerging market and developing economies are expected to experience their weakest per capita income growth since the pandemic.
- 🚀 Despite the challenging outlook, the report highlights opportunities to strengthen long-term growth through investment in human capital, digital transformation, private sector development, innovation, and the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence (AI).
The report also emphasizes that fostering a more enabling business environment, mobilizing private investment, and strengthening regional cooperation will be essential to creating jobs, enhancing productivity, and building more resilient economies.
