The Muslim world accounts for an important part of French foreign trade data according to statistics and trade data although Arab and Muslim countries have been calling for boycotts of French products. This followed the episode of offensive cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad appearing on building facades in France, which coincided with harassment campaigns against Muslim institutions in France.
In 2019, the Muslim importing countries imported most of their imports from France in the following categories: machines, gas turbines, aeronautical products, automotives, cars, tractors, steel, chemicals, electronic and electrical equipment, and medicines.
France mostly imported crude oil, natural gas, mineral oils, cars, automotive parts, TV receivers, electric heaters, cables, clothes, vegetables, fruits, and nuts from Muslim countries.
