The Comoros aims to create a social fabric in which women will be able to take their equal place. The empowerment of women needs to be vigorously promoted, and Comoros reaffirms its commitment to the rapid implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action. Comoros will continue its policy launched in 2011 to promote preschool enrollment in public schools, which has led to the enrollment of approximately 6,000 children. Strengthened policies will provide adequate services for women during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Reproductive health is a focus of the national health strategy, which has seen the maternal mortality rate drop from 381 to 170 deaths per 100,000 live births between 2007 and 2012. Comoros is committed to strengthening its multisectoral strategy to combat HIV and to continue actions aimed at bringing more women into high-impact leadership positions in national institutions. Increasing women's access to microcredit will strengthen their crucial role in the national economy.
