Agri-Tech and Food in Germany

Access permissions

The proportion of global agri-foodtech venture capital invested in Europe is small. However, as demand mounts on agricultural systems to produce more and more sustainably, Europe's largest economies are stepping up efforts to foster a welcoming startup environment. Agritech has the smallest percentage of all German startup industries in terms of both the number of startups and the amount of venture capital invested.

While agriculture is currently lagging behind Germany's well-known industrial sectors in terms of economic contribution, the country nevertheless boasts 16 million hectares of farmland, employing 1.4 percent of the workforce.
