Germany supports developing countries in promoting women's participation in politics, business and society and is also working hard to further promote gender equality in its own country. Germany supports UN Women and UN Global Compact's Women's Empowerment Principles, a set of seven business principles that provide guidance on empowering women in the workplace, marketplace and society. Berlin is home to the largest number of initiatives advocating for women in business in Germany, and the number is growing steadily. In Berlin alone, about 170 initiatives are currently active (as of 2022). They are working to improve the visibility, networking, empowerment and professionalization of women in the digital, media and creative industries.
