Every year, British households generate over 26 million tonnes of waste, the equivalent of approximately 260 large cruise ships. In the UK, 12 million tonnes of waste are recycled, while 14 million tonnes are disposed of in landfills. This gives us a recycling rate of 45 percent on average.
