The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) held a high-level strategic meeting with H.E. the Minister of Youth of Jordan to explore opportunities for long-term collaboration in support of Jordan's National Youth Strategy 2026–2030. The meeting focused on developing a shared roadmap to strengthen youth economic empowerment by leveraging digital innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, and regional cooperation.
The discussion highlighted the role of DEPAR (Digital Enabling Platform for the Arab Region) as a regional platform that can support Jordan's youth ecosystem by connecting youth centres, entrepreneurs, and ecosystem stakeholders with knowledge resources, capacity-building programmes, regional communities, funding opportunities, and cross-country collaboration.

ETC presented its regional programmes and digital platforms as practical mechanisms for supporting the implementation of Jordan's National Youth Strategy 2026–2030.
The meeting explored the development of a joint roadmap for collaboration, with a focus on:
- Strengthening the role of Jordan's youth centres as local innovation and entrepreneurship hubs.
- Expanding youth access to digital skills, entrepreneurship programmes, mentoring, and regional networking opportunities.
- Integrating Ministry of Youth initiatives within DEPAR to increase regional visibility, knowledge exchange, and cross-country collaboration.
- Co-designing capacity-building programmes, innovation initiatives, and ecosystem engagement activities aligned with national priorities.
- Identifying opportunities for joint regional projects, strategic partnerships, and resource mobilization efforts that contribute to youth economic empowerment.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advance technical cooperation and develop a structured partnership roadmap that aligns Jordan's national youth priorities with regional opportunities, positioning the country's youth centres as active contributors to the Arab entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.

National Stakeholder Engagement on DEPAR

The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) organized a national in-person DEPAR Information Session, bringing together representatives from government institutions, entrepreneurship support organizations, academia, the private sector, and development partners. The session introduced DEPAR (Digital Enabling Platform for the Arab Region) as a regional platform designed to strengthen entrepreneurship ecosystems by providing access to opportunities, knowledge resources, community networks, and regional collaboration.
ETC Contribution
ETC organized and facilitated the in-person information session, providing participants with a live demonstration of DEPAR and its key features, including community groups, knowledge resources, and regional opportunities.
The session also showcased the Arab Creative Market (ACM) and MicroMentor as complementary initiatives supporting entrepreneurs and MSMEs. Participants engaged in discussions to identify opportunities for collaboration, share recommendations for strengthening DEPAR, and explore ways to enhance its contribution to Jordan's entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Following the session, ETC initiated engagement with participating organizations to explore strategic partnerships and promote broader adoption of the platform.

ESCWA Technology Centre Participates in the Mafraq Entrepreneurship Hackathon Finale

The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) participated in the closing ceremony of the Mafraq Entrepreneurship Hackathon in Jordan, bringing together national stakeholders and entrepreneurship support organizations to empower youth in developing innovative solutions to local challenges and promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation.
The hackathon received 173 applications through the online platform, with 30 participants selected to join an intensive training programme. A total of 13 entrepreneurial projects reached the final stage, covering diverse areas including technology, agriculture, tourism, energy and water, and digital transformation.
ETC Contribution
ETC contributed to supporting the hackathon as part of its efforts to strengthen entrepreneurship ecosystems and enhance opportunities for youth to develop scalable solutions with economic and social impact.
The event provided a platform for showcasing innovative youth-led ideas, fostering collaboration among ecosystem actors, and promoting entrepreneurship as a pathway for sustainable development in Jordan and the Arab region.
National Association for Entrepreneurship and Agricultural Innovation in Jordan

The ESCWA Technology Centre met with representatives of the National Association for Entrepreneurship and Agricultural Innovation in Jordan, an association supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, to explore opportunities for collaboration in support of the Association's newly established Agritech Incubation Hub.
The discussion focused on strengthening the agritech entrepreneurship ecosystem by connecting entrepreneurs with regional knowledge, capacity-building programmes, and ecosystem support services.
ETC Contribution
The ESCWA Technology Centre presented several regional initiatives that could support the incubator and its entrepreneurs, including:
- The Regional Training Programme on Green Technologies and Business Models, particularly its agritech and digital agriculture components, to strengthen the capacities of entrepreneurs participating in the incubation programme.
- DEPAR ecosystem mappings covering entrepreneurship and agricultural ecosystems across 22 Arab countries, providing entrepreneurs and ecosystem stakeholders with access to key support organizations, programmes, and market opportunities.
- Mentorship support through DEPAR, including ETC's partnership with MicroMentor, enabling entrepreneurs to connect with experienced mentors and receive tailored business guidance throughout their entrepreneurial journey.

National Youth Strategy 2026–2030 Consultations

The Ministry of Youth launched a nationwide consultation process to develop Jordan's National Youth Strategy 2026–2030 through an inclusive and participatory approach, engaging government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, academia, the private sector, and young people from across the Kingdom.
The strategy is aligned with Jordan's Economic Modernization Vision, the Political Modernization Agenda, and the Public Sector Reform Programme, with a strong focus on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, innovation, digital transformation, sustainability, and future-ready skills.

The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) participated as a technical stakeholder throughout the consultation process, contributing regional expertise in:

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply (MoITS), in collaboration with GIZ Jordan, is leading national consultations under the Digital Trade and E-Commerce in the MENA Region project to strengthen Jordan's digital trade ecosystem. The initiative aims to enhance e-commerce readiness, improve MSME competitiveness, expand digital market access, and advance regional economic integration through policy dialogue and technical cooperation.
ETC Contribution
The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) has actively engaged in the initiative by participating in introductory coordination meetings, the official project launch, and technical consultation sessions. ETC contributed regional expertise on entrepreneurship ecosystem development, MSME growth, digital transformation, and regional ecosystem connectivity.
In addition, ETC explored opportunities for collaboration with project partners through DEPAR (Digital Enabling Platform for the Arab Region), including ecosystem outreach and engagement, sector-specific e-commerce initiatives, technical consultations, and regional visibility activities such as the Arab SMEs Summit.

Strengthening E-commerce Capabilities of Irada Programme Beneficiaries

The ESCWA Technology Centre , in partnership with the Irada Programme under the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in Jordan, delivered a series of three training sessions introducing e-commerce opportunities to Irada beneficiaries. The programme aimed to strengthen the digital capabilities of entrepreneurs and equip them with practical knowledge to grow and expand their businesses online.
The sessions combined practical learning with hands-on demonstrations, helping participants better understand how to establish, manage, and scale their digital presence.

Digital content creation, including an introduction to AI-powered tools.
