Agri-Tech and Food in Italy

Access permissions

Agriculture is one of Italy's most important economic sectors, accounting for approximately 2.1 percent of Gross domestic product. The northern part of Italy is known for its grains, soybeans, meat, and dairy products, whereas the southern part is known for its fruits, vegetables, olive oil, wine, and durum wheat. Italian industries, including the food-processing industry, rely heavily on raw material imports. Italy is the EU's major agricultural producer and food processor.
